It’s been customary for the Nicholls Worth to participate in the Homecoming display competition every year. Despite the four-year winning streak for student publications,
the competition has been less about winning and more about the opportunity to come together as an organization and work on a creative process that is different from normal.
Designing a display, which always features a wooden cutout of the Nicholls mascot, carving out the pieces of wood and painting the different components has allowed our staff members to flex their creative muscles that differ from those used when writing stories and designing layout.
While the production of the magazine alone is enough to bring the team together, having something additional to build and cheer for is just another way to increase productivity and enthusiasm.
